1 Corinthians 13 (2015 REMIX)

If I have encyclopedic theological knowledge, can parse supralapsarianism and its implications for the doctrine of election, and defend truth from all heresy… but have not love, I am the sound of violently grinding teeth, a smoke detector beeping for battery at 3am, a million-million vuvuzelas blaring for an entire soccer match.

If I become a Christian social media celebrity and my spiritual posts get hundreds of likes, comments, shares, and RT’s… but have not love, I gain nothing.

If I have right political and cultural views, can humiliate an opponent in any debate about politics or ethics – I can prove to anyone the ethical illegitimacy of gay marriage or abortion… but have not love, I have nothing.

If I have once-in-a-generation spiritual giftedness and people by the thousands come to hear me preach or hear me sing or read my blog or watch me lead… but have not love, I am nothing.
