2024 Lakepointe Leadership Update & FAQ’s

CLARITY produces UNITY, so in seasons of great blessing with a lot coming we want to over-communicate the invisible WHY-reason behind the visible WHAT that happens. With so much happening, I want to answer the following FAQ’s to keep our beloved Lakepointe (LP) family aligned as we move:

  1. New campuses, Rockwall campus parking, and new services?
  2. Goals for the next year?
  3. Did I hear something about Young Adults???
  4. Has Lakepointe changed its position on women in ministry?
  5. What about our position on the Holy Spirit?
  6. Wow, what can I do to help!?

New campuses, Rockwall campus parking, new services?

Simply put, we feel like a kite caught in a hurricane of grace… and hurricanes are a lot to handle!

To put in perspective what we’re trying to steward as a church, ~20 months ago, we had our first ever 16k in-person attendance weekend. Since then, we’ve had our first 17k, 18k, 19k, 20k, and 21k in-person attendance weekends, and the last four weeks we are cramming 2-3k more people into services than the same time last year. By God’s grace, this growth is primarily happening by lost people getting saved, as a few weeks ago we baptized 739 people in one (tear-jerking) weekend.

At Lakepointe, we will do ANYTHING SHORT OF SIN to reach people for Christ, so to make space for the people God is bringing (and reduce chaos for you!) we’re working toward the following…

ROCKWALL CAMPUS 4TH SERVICE FOR AT THE MOVIES. We are projecting up to 27k people for our At The Movies series starting July 13. To make space for that many people, we’ll launch a second Saturday night service at the Rockwall Campus during At The Movies, resulting in the following service schedule for the Rockwall Campus for At The Movies beginning July 13:

  1. Saturday 4pm
  2. Saturday 5:30pm
  3. Sunday 9:30am
  4. Sunday 11am

If you’re at any campus with Saturday services I’ll go ahead and beg you to consider making those your service at least during At The Movies for two reasons: 1) You’re going to love it –– no rushing around in the morning and you’re in your PJ’s all day Sunday for NFL pregame (!), and 2) almost all our guests try to attend Sunday, so you’re creating seating and parking for lost people to meet Jesus.

ROCKWALL CAMPUS PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS. In effort to make it MUCH easier and faster to get on and off the Rockwall Campus parking lot, after a HUGE amount of planning we’re thrilled to announce significant improvements will begin in the next few weeks! To work around the construction while it happens, we’ll need your cooperation as we have to become more directive in how people exit lots on the weekends. Please act like Jesus when we start telling you how to exit the parking lot for a season, as we’re trying to eliminate the long exit lines and Hunger Games experiences for you 🙂

NEW CAMPUSES LIKELY COMING 2025 AND 2026. Based on your feedback from our Easter survey and the number of people driving to other campuses from these areas, I’m also thrilled to announce we are targeting new campuses in Terrell and Royse City in the next ~24 months, God-willing and if pieces can fall into place. As always, these plans are based on what we know now. Stay tuned and buckle up, Terrell and RC fam…

Goals for the next year?

Glory to God for all that growth, but as my pastor friend Joby Martin says, “We’re not in the crowd-drawing business, we’re in the disciple-making business.” The conviction of our pastoral leadership and elders is to pour rocket fuel on Lakepointe’s discipleship strategies in the coming months. You’ll hear about this with greater specificity in the future, but this will include some or all of things like…

– An intentional discipleship experience that every new person at Lakepointe walks through to install the discipleship habits and Biblical doctrine of a thriving disciple

– Improving the resourcing our current Life Groups and exponentially multiplying the amount of them

– Test-driving daily devotional guides to go along with a couple “feature sermon series” per year that help people establish a rhythm of personal time with God and help them grow as Christians / spouses / parents

– Digital content that helps our people think Biblically and courageously about the issues of the day because if the church won’t disciple people, the world will

Did I hear something about Young Adults?

We recently became aware of the GROUNDSWELL of Young Adults (YA’s) flocking to Lakepointe –– over 6,000 young adults now actively attend LP. Very frankly, those are the future pastors / elders / leaders of our church and WHEN (not “if”) the next move of God sweeps our nation, church history shows it’ll probably be them leading it.

We’re 1,000% gonna do something to gather and catalyze Lakepointe Young Adults this year, they’re already beginning “pre-launch meet” before we full-scale launch Lakepointe YA’s, and we’re now finalizing our full strategy for rollout later this year. For info on the YA gathering happening or to stay tuned, shoot an email to Nathan.Farley@lakepointe.church.

Has Lakepointe changed its position on women in ministry?

This is an easy one, because it’s a one-word answer: No. After we’ve had a few women speak at Lakepointe services on Mother’s Day to encourage our ladies and some gifted female leaders moved into roles at a couple campuses, some have wondered if I was changing Lakepointe’s position on Women in Ministry. No, we continue to operate under the Lakepointe elders’ statement on Women in Ministry (available HERE) that my predecessor Pastor Steve set in the 1980’s and Lakepointe elders formalized in 2013.

Are we changing our position on the Holy Spirit?

Again, this is an easy one: No. After I preached on Acts 1:8 and being filled with the Spirit, a few people wondered if I was changing Lakepointe’s beliefs on baptism / filling with the Spirit. We continue to hold the belief the Spirit indwells every Christian the moment they are saved, but that every Christian should continually seek to be filled with the Spirit in a fresh way to walk in holiness and have supernatural power for witness. That said, yes we are absolutely begging God for an outpouring of his Spirit on Lakepointe, and will unashamedly continue to do so because the pattern of the Bible is the church prays, the Spirit falls and shakes the church, THEN the church shakes the world. Also, we’ll keep doing it because it’s fun.

With all the great things happening, what can I do to help!?

Recently, this is one of the most common questions I get, because LP’ers are “doers of the word and not hearers only” (James 1:22). A few things…

// Pray. I genuinely believe the power behind everything people see and feel at Lakepointe is born in a groundswell of prayer. It didn’t start with a sermon, a song, or a strategy. It started when 24k people in-person and online cried to heaven at Prayer & Worship Night in January, and we’ll do it again at Encounter in September. Beg God for supernatural power upon us to tear down strongholds.

// Attend Saturday services when possible. Saturday services are our fastest-growing services because they’re amazing, and almost ALL our guests try to attend on Sunday. Because attending Saturday makes room for lost people trying to attend, our joke is “moving to Saturday is the shortest mission trip you’ll ever take.”

// Give generously. The people of Lakepointe are the most generous people I’ve ever met, and very frankly VISION requires PROVISION. It’s the job of the leaders to set the vision of the church, but the church gets to decide the speed at which the vision gets accomplished through its giving. CLICK HERE to begin.

// Serve. You’ll never be happy until you discover your God-given calling and use it to make an eternal difference in the lives of people. AND… thousands of new people at LP need your ministry! CLICK HERE to check out ministries and test-driving serving.

// If you’re new to Lakepointe, attend the Next Steps Class. Whether you’re newer and just want to learn about our vision, beliefs, where we’re headed as a church, etc, or if you’re interested in membership at LP, the Next Step Class will help you do that. CLICK HERE to sign up for your campuses’ Next Step Class.
